The Long Run Children's Learning Center offers half-day preschool services for 160 children who range in age from 3 to 5; some 60% of these children have special needs. LRCLC also hosts a Toddler Group, a Bridge to Kindergarten Pre-K program, and a special Summer Day Camp. The goal of our developmentally-appropriate, play-based curriculum is to encourage children to be actively involved in the learning process, and to experience a variety of multi-sensory activities that are appropriate to their age and rate of development. The teaching staff includes certified teachers and specially-trained teacher aides. In addition, LRCLC provides the services of speech, physical, and occupational therapists, a physical education teacher, and a Family Worker. Overall, the school has a staff ratio of three children to one adult. The LRCLC Bridge to Kindergarten (B2K) class enables students to transition successfully from a traditional half-day preschool to the demands of a full day kindergarten. The B2K program offers five three-hour classes per week, in morning and afternoon sessions, for a nine-month school year and a special two-week "summer camp" session.
This is a sister Baptist Church in nearby Wilkinsburg. They are also involved in Community Outreach.
